Getting Started

Using GCheck is simple and fast. You don’t need to install anything or deal with complicated setups.

There are two ways to get started:

1. Use the Website Just head over to the GCheck website and paste the GitHub repository link into the search bar. Click the Analyze button and let the tool do the work. Within seconds, you’ll get a full overview of the repository’s health, activity, contributors, dependencies, and security.

2. Use the Chrome Extension If you prefer to stay on GitHub, you can install our Chrome extension. Once it’s active, you’ll see the GCheck button directly on GitHub repository pages. Click it, and the results will appear without ever needing to leave the page.

What Happens Next

After you submit a repo, you’ll see a dashboard showing:

  • A health score from 0 to 100

  • Key sections like Security, Activity, Dependencies, and Top Contributors

  • Security insights including vulnerabilities and code quality checks

  • Historical activity like commits, forks, and last updates

  • Language distribution and contribution metrics

These insights help you quickly understand whether a project is actively maintained and secure — or whether it's best to stay away.

No guesswork. No fluff. Just clear signals that help you invest smarter.
